The film will follow the story of a young small-town girl from Alabama as she meets her mentor in the form of Miss Macy, who has plucked her out from her unhappy home life to attend the Miss Macy charm school. The titular mentor will be portrayed by Smart as she is being described as an eccentric woman who will help bring young Trisha towards the path of becoming a successful model.

The project will be penned by Pulitzer Prize winner and Oscar nominee Beth Henley, who is known for her work in Crimes of the Heart and Nobody’s Fool. It will be produced by Tate Taylor, Denise Di Novi, and Margaret French Isaac with Smart, Mitchell Coburn, John Norris, and Angeliki Giannakopoulos serving as executive producers.

She will next be seen in HBO Max’s Superintelligence opposite Melissa McCarthy; and HBO’s forthcoming limited series Mare of Easttown starring alongside Kate Winslet and Evan Peters.
