Neil Patrick Harris joins Nic Cage’s The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

A couple of months after expanding its star-studded ensemble with the addition of Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), the Nicolas Cage-starring action dramedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent has found another big star in the form of Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother).

RELATED: Tiffany Haddish Joins Nicolas Cage’s The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

The Unbearable Weight of a Massive Talent will see Nicolas Cage portray a version of himself desperate to get a role in a new Tarantino movie while also struggling with a strained relationship with his teenage daughter. As he makes his way through life, he also talks to an egotistical version of himself from the ’90s who railroads him for making bad movies and not being the same star he was at the time, now dealing with a mountain of death and making an appearance at the birthday party of a Mexican billionaire that is a huge fan.

In a long-standing battle against one of the largest criminal organizations in Europe, Haddish plays the role of Vivian, an eccentric rogue government agent who forces superstar Nicolas Cage to go undercover in a crazy, offbook, last ditch effort to bring them down for good. Harris is set to star in the film as Cage’s talent agent.

While bonding with the man, who hopes to show Cage a script he’s been working on, the actor learns from the CIA that the billionaire is actually a drug cartel kingpin who has kidnapped the daughter of a presidential nominee and is recruited to get intelligence. The predicament gets worse when the billionaire brings Cage’s daughter and ex-wife for a reconciliation and he must take on the role of a lifetime to save their lives.

In addition to Cage and Haddish, the cast for the film includes Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Wonder Woman 1984) and Emmy nominee Sharon Horgan (Game Night, Catastrophe). The film is eyeing a fall production date and a 2021 release date.

The Unbearable Weight of a Massive Talent will be directed by Tom Gormican, who co-wrote the script with Kevin Etten. The film will executive produced by Etten and Kevin Turren along with Cage and Mike Nilon through their Saturn Films banner.

The script is set to include nods to various Cage works including Leaving Las VegasFace-Off and Gone in 60 Seconds and reportedly has tones of Adaptation, which Cage starred in, as well as Jean-Claude Van Damme’s JCVD and the Hollywood caper Get Shorty.

Disneyland reveals Avengers Campus’ Spider-Bot & early sale date!

Though fans may still have a ways to go until they can finally visit the highly-anticipated Avengers Campus at California’s Disneyland Resort, the park has revealed the first look at the remote-controlled Spider-Bot as well as a sale date ahead of the new land’s opening! The announcement video can be viewed below!

As part of The Worldwide Engineering Brigade, also known as WEB, the new Spider-Bots are there to be a friendly sidekick for superheroes looking to help protect their neighborhood and puts owners in control of the action to battle opponents with programmed combat and defensive abilities. The RC bots can crawl backward and forward, crouch, spin 360 degrees, stare down with their laser eyes, attack opponent Spider-Bots and even blast off their shields.

The new WEB invention is set to go on sale alongside fresh apparel from the Avengers Campus attraction, with Annual Passholders getting the opportunity to make a reservation for a special upcoming, limited-quantity pre-sale even in Downtown Disney from November 30 to December 3 for both Spider-Bots and Avengers Campus merch!

For fans without an annual pass, the Spider-Bots and other WEB apparel is set to go on sale in Downtown Disney at Disneyland in both the World of Disney and Disneyland Resort Backlot Premiere shops beginning December 4!

Avengers Campus, which was announced a few years ago, will focus on looking for the next generation of heroes, inviting fans to team up with the titular group of Marvel heroes and their allies to live out their wildest superhero dreams in the fully immersive area blending innovative technology and fun for all ages.

Much like the neighboring park’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area, the Avengers Campus will feature various performers portraying iconic heroes, including Spider-Man, Iron-Man in brand-new armor, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Black Widow and more, alongside legendary villains Taskmaster, who can replicate other heroes’ abilities, and the mischievous Loki.

After the initial tease of the park with 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT!, the next ride to be unveiled for fans and parkgoers will be Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, which will see star Tom Holland reprising his role for an action-packed adventure inviting guests to put their web-slinging skills to the test as they help Spidey capture the out-of-control Spider-Bots before they can wreak havoc on the campus. During an open house at the World Engineering Brigade, aka WEB, Peter Parker and the aspiring inventors ask guests to wear 3D glasses and test drive their latest invention, the WEB Slinger vehicle, which will allow fans to sling webs like the hero and experience what it’s like to have powers.

The area will also feature new food locations for guests, including Pym Test Kitchen, in which fans can use the famous “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, creating numerous possibilities to showcase normal foods at unusual scales, including shareable bites, inventive-sized entrees and tiny treats. Guests can watch the Pym food scientists at work in the kitchen lab, as well as taste-test foods like the Impossible plant-based large and micro meatballs with pasta served with a super-sized spoon and tiny fork, as well as gigantic soda cans and condiment bottles.

Next to the Pym Test Kitchen fans can visit the Pym Tasting Lab, which will offer grown-up beverages that includes a craft beer, ranging from a blood orange hefeweizen to an amber lager, poured from a reverse draft system where the food scientists ensure the glass fills from the bottom up.

For those wanting a more Avengers-focused experience, they can relive the iconic post-credits moment from the original film with Shawarma Palace, which is a recreation of the iconic New York location in which guests can enjoy their favorite shawarma-inspired snacks at the food cart decked out with memorabilia and offers hand-held savory wraps with chicken shawarma and garlic sauce, or the Impossible plant-based falafel wrap.

Guests will also have the ability to travel to the cosmos for Terran Treats, with a menu cultivated by Guardian of the Galaxy‘s Taneleer Tivan that will feature everything from churro spirals with unique flavors to a cosmic orb with an outer shell revealing a decadent creamy filling, and it will be located next to the ride.

The film, which is being written and directed by McKay (Vice, The Big Short), will center on two low-level astronomers who have to embark on a media tour around the globe in an effort to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that is going to destroy Earth.

The cast for the film will be led by Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Jennifer Lawrence (Dark Phoenix) as the central astronomers alongside Meryl Streep (The Prom), Jonah Hill (The Beach Bum), Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Timothée Chalamet (Dune), Cate Blanchett (Where’d You Go, Bernadette?) and Rob Morgan (Luke Cage). In addition to this ensemble roster, the Netflix film will feature a number of cameos including Ariana Grande (Kidding), Kid Cudi (Bill & Ted Face the Music), Matthew Perry (Friends) and Tomer Sisley (Messiah).

McKay has had a successful run in the satire genre over the past few years, earning one Oscar nomination and one win for 2016’s The Big Short and three Oscar nominations for 2018’s Vice, including Best Picture. The 52-year-old filmmaker will produce the project alongside partner Kevin Messick via their productions banner Hyperobject Industries.
