Based on Canadian author Patrick deWitt’s 2018 best-selling novel, French Exit will follow the story of a wealthy widowed mother and her adult son Frances Price and Malcolm Price, who have a dysfunctional relationship with Frances described as a possessive mother while Malcolm is emotionally-stunted. Joining the duo is their family’s aging cat named Small Frank, who is inhabited by the spirit of Frances’ dead husband. Because of an impending bankruptcy, she decided to move the family from New York to Paris.
