As if this morning’s reveal of Neve Campbell returning to the franchise wasn’t already enough, it’s been announced that Mason Gooding (Love, Victor) and Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why) have joined the ensemble cast of Scream 5! (Via Deadline)

David Arquette became the first actor from the original franchise to sign on for the fifth film in the series, with Courteney Cox signing on at the end of July for the film and after word coming earlier this year that lead heroine Campbell was in talks to reprise her role of Sidney Prescott, it’s now finally official!
Alongside the returning vets, including Scream 4‘s Marley Shelton, other new cast members for the film include Kyle Gallner (Ghosts of War), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers) and Mikey Madison (Better Things), who join previously cast Jack Quaid (The Boys), Melissa Barrera (Vida) and Jenna Ortega (The Babysitter: Killer Queen).
While plot details are currently scarce, it is being reported that the film will follow “a woman returning to her home town to try to find out who has been committing a series of vicious crimes.”
The new film will be produced by Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), who is also co-writing the screenplay with Guy Busick (Ready or Not), as well as Paul Neinstein and William Sherak for Spyglass, with original screenwriter Kevin Williamson executive producing with Radio Silence’s third member Chad Villella.
The first film, released in 1996, was a surprise smash upon its debut, helping to revive the horror genre for the decade and becoming the highest-grossing slasher movie of all-time until it was dethroned by last year’s Halloween reboot. The first’s success spawned a franchise that includes three sequels, the first of which remained equally as successful as the first while the previous two saw middling box office returns and mixed reviews.
After years of struggling to get another film off the ground, MTV picked up a series adaptation that became a cult hit, with two well-received seasons from fans before it was passed off to VH1 for its rebooted third season, which saw mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and audiences alike, but was a minor improvement in the ratings from the second season.

Neve Campbell (Party of Five, The Craft) has played Sidney Prescott in the original blockbuster hit Scream way back in 1996. Since then, she became the face of the popular slasher franchise as she also starred in three follow-up sequels. The most recent entry, Scream 4, released in 2011 and grossed $97 million worldwide on a $40 million budget. Campbell recently appeared in Netflix’s House of Cards and the film Castle in the Ground.

The Curse of Audrey Earnshaw explores the disturbed bond between Audrey, an enigmatic young woman, and Agatha, her domineering mother, who live secretly as occultists on the outskirts of a remote Protestant village. Following an ominous encounter between Agatha and a grieving townsman, and a rare sighting of Audrey by a local, Agatha’s authority crumbles as Audrey asserts her dominance. Meanwhile, hysteria mounts within the community as a mysterious pestilence spreads throughout the fields and livestock, yet the Earnshaw farm remains strangely unaffected.
The cast for the film includes Catherine Walker (A Dark Song), Jared Abrahamson (Travelers), Hannah Emily Anderson (The Purge), Geraldine O’Rawe (Seven & Me), Don McKellar (Sensitive Skin), Sean McGinley (The Alienist: Angel of Darkness) and Jessica Reynolds in her feature acting debut in the titular role.

Nick Thomas acts as cinematographer for the film while Ben Lee Allen is editor and Thilo Schaller and Bryan Buss compose the music for the pic.
“I wanted to tell a story about legacy, and to specifically explore it within the context of a folk horror narrative,” Lee said in a statement. “The community grows increasingly desperate as their given circumstances grow dire. In reality, the pandemic appears to have amplified hatred and xenophobia, or at least the voices of those spewing hate speech. Obviously there is a world of difference between my screenplay and the very real ramifications of the pandemic, but the similarities, however surface-level they may be, have certainly been on my mind these past months.”

The Sounds (Acorn TV Original Series, Commissioned) – Episode 7 of 8
In this riveting, twisty psychological thriller, Rachelle Lefevre (Proven Innocent, Under the Dome) and Matt Whelan (The Luminaries, Narcos) star as a married Canadian couple who moves halfway around the world to a small idyllic town in New Zealand to start a new life –to escape the husband’s wealthy, oppressive father and launch his own business venture – a sustainable salmon fishery- that will help revive the local troubled economy, but not everyone in the community welcomes the change. When Tom Cabbott (Whelan) disappears after he goes out kayaking, unsettling facts about him soon come to light, and the search for him brings long-buried wounds
to the surface. As wife Maggie (Lefevre) struggles to navigate the escalating events, it becomes clear that in this small, seemingly close-knit community of Pelorus, nothing and no one are quite what they seem. As it turns out, the couple chose the wrong town for their happy ending. The series is created and written by international bestselling novelist, Sarah-Kate Lynch (Blessed Are the Cheesemakers).
Bloodlines
This television thriller reveals the true story of one of the most evil crimes in New Zealand history. In November 1999, the head of Psychiatry at Otago Hospital, Dr Colin Bouwer (Mark Mitchinson, High Road, Mystery Road), thought he was clever enough to commit the perfect murder, and he almost got away with it. He wanted his wife, Annette (Nathalie Boltt, Riverdale), out of the way and over three months slowly poisoned her with insulin, causing a slow and painful death watched by helpless family and friends. Believing medical authorities and police were not smart enough to ever catch him, this “Dr. Death” almost got away with murder. But he was detected by Andrew Bowers (Craig Hall, A Place To Call Home), a young consultant physician, who never expected that he would stumble upon a murder in process. It was down to Bowers and Detective Brett Roberts (Will Hall, Netherwood), whose dogged pursuit of the truth eventually uncovered Annette Bouwer’s cold-blooded murder by her husband, an evil man with a Mensa IQ who thought he was smarter than anyone else in New Zealand.
The Gulf
This psychological thriller series captures the moral disintegration of Detective Jess Savage (Kate Elliott, Wentworth), who investigates crimes in Waiheke Island, New Zealand. After losing her memory in a car crash that killed her husband, Jess becomes determined to bring the killer to justice. Convinced that someone is trying to kill her because of something she has uncovered in a recent investigation, she in effect begins investigating herself, retracing her steps over the weeks prior. As her colleagues become increasingly uncooperative, Jess suffers from paranoia, while starting to fight an addiction to morphine. As she gets closer to the truth she so desperately seeks, Jess discovers that her world is not so morally black and white. The personal story of Jess and the revelation of it to her and the audience is complex and intriguing, which dovetails seamlessly with three intriguing criminal cases that have a major impact on her career. Tales of Irish Castles
This six part series explores the great stories, legends and characters associated with the most beautiful, notorious and historical castles across Ireland – in Dublin, Trim, Blarney, Limerick, Carrickfergus, Kilkenny, Birr and more. Hosted by Simon Delaney, the series takes the audience on an incredible journey throughout the island of Ireland – where more castles were built than in the rest of the British Isles combined. From the imposing Anglo-Norman strongholds of the 13th and 14th centuries (e.g. Trim, Carrickfergus and King John’s), to the more modest tower houses of the 15th and 16th centuries (e.g. Clonony and Leap) and to the lavish fortified houses of the 17th and 18th centuries (Tullynally, Ashford), Irish castles have provided the backdrop for countless bloody battles, savage sieges, haunting happenings and lavish lifestyles over the years. The series documents these magnificent stone structures and the stories contained within their walls, bringing them to life through specially shot re-enactments, archive footage and contributions from Ireland’s leading historians, archaeologists, castle owners and inhabitants. Soon a nearby archaeologist (Sofia Helin, The Bridge) makes a find that could help with the case, but she conceals it for fear of shutting down her dig site. Facing obstruction at every turn and a rising body count, Jay must expose the web of corruption plaguing the town. It is with great sadness that ComingSoon.net brings word (via Deadline) that legendary British actress Dame Diana Rigg has passed away at age 82, reportedly from cancer diagnosed in March. The BAFTA, Emmy and Tony Award-winner was best known for the 60’s spy series The Avengers, her role as a Bond Girl in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and her recent work as Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones.
“She died peacefully early this morning. She was at home with her family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time,” her agent said.
An alum of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and the Royal Shakespeare Company, Rigg first gained international fame from 1965 to 1968 as secret agent Emma Peel on Seasons 4 and 5 of the stylish ITV spy series The Avengers opposite Patrick Macnee’s John Steed. Succeeding Julie Stevens and Honor Blackman as Steed’s sidekick, Emma Peel became an instant sex symbol in the 60’s. She followed Blackman into the 007 arena as Tracy, the doomed wife of James Bond, in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969) opposite George Lazenby.
After this initial success Rigg had a variety of roles throughout the 70’s, including as a fashion designer in her own American NBC sitcom titled Diana, which lasted one season (1973-1974). She played Portia opposite Charlton Heston in 1970’s Julius Caesar, co-starred with George C. Scott in Arthur Hiller’s satire The Hospital (1971), with Vincent Price in 1973’s horror comedy Theatre of Blood, and sang in the Stephen Sondheim musical adaptation A Little Night Music (1977) with Elizabeth Taylor.
In the 80’s she co-starred with Charles Grodin and Miss Piggy in Jim Henson’s The Great Muppet Caper (1981) and among the ensemble of Peter Ustinov’s Poirot movie Evil Under the Sun (1982). In the 90’s she co-starred with Sean Connery in Bruce Beresford’s A Good Man in Africa (1994), and her role as Mrs. Danvers in ITV’s Rebecca (1997) won her an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. In 2006 she appeared opposite Edward Norton and Naomi Watts in The Painted Veil, and in Andy Serkis’ 2017 directorial debut Breathe starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy. She also appeared in the 2013 episode of Doctor Who titled “The Crimson Horror”.
In 2013 she took on what might be her most popular role as the feisty and ruthless Olenna Tyrell -the powerful matriarch of House Tyrell- in HBO’s cultural juggernaut Game of Thrones. Her role in the series lasted until 2017, and Rigg was Emmy nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series four times.
Rigg will make her final posthumous film appearance as “Miss Collins” in Edgar Wright’s upcoming horror film Last Night in Soho, which is scheduled for release on April 23, 2021.

Leaping over walls, taking a punch, landing a kick, feeling the heat of an explosion, and sometimes holding dangerously sharp objects, these are the routine dangers stuntwomen face at the office. On September 22, 2020, Shout! Studios will unleash the highly anticipated documentary feature Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Storyon digital platforms everywhere for watch-at-home.
Directed by April Wright (Going Attractions: The Definitive Story of the Movie Palace) and narrated by Michelle Rodriguez (Widows, Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story), Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story is the inspiring untold story about the unsung professionals, their struggles on screen to perform at the highest level, and their fight off-screen to be treated fairly and equally. The movie takes us behind-the-scenes and introduces us to the female stunt performers who drive the action and thrills of Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster movies from the silent age of cinema to the present day.
Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story, based on the best-selling book by Mollie Gregory, introduces us to the secret stars who provide the electrifying action that makes the best Hollywood movies and television, from the first black-and-white “flickers” to today’s high-tech mega epics. These unheralded heroines are the generations of stuntwomen who risked their lives in front of the camera, while behind it they fought for equal rights with male stunt performers, battled sexism and harassment, sustained life-threatening injuries, and returned to the fray after each battle. Michelle Rodriguez meets some of the stuntwomen who have doubled for her in numerous action sequences. Film historian Ben Mankiewicz (Turner Classic Movies) guides Michelle and two stunt performers through film clips from the early days of cinema, when women performed their own stunts. Directors Paul Verhoeven, Paul Feig, and Anne Fletcher and producer Al Ruddy discuss the importance of stunt performers in their films and reveal some tricks of the trade. Nell Scovell (Lean In, Sabrina the Teenage Witch) has written the provocative and insightful narration.
This captivating film spotlights some of the most extraordinary stuntwomen of our time and skillfully weaves personal interviews with a treasure trove of archival materials, including rare onset footage and photos. Nearly six months since filming on Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming Elvis biopic was temporarily halted back in March, it looks like things are starting to look up for the project with Deadline bringing word that Warner Bros. Pictures has finally commissioned the resumption of production. The Austin Butler-led film is now scheduled to resume filming later this month on September 23 on Queensland, Australia after Oscar winner Tom Hanks has fully recovered from COVID-19.
“We’re back to, as Elvis liked to say, ‘taking care of business!’” Luhrmann said in a statement. “It is a real privilege in this unprecedented global moment that Tom Hanks has been able to return to Australia to join Austin Butler and all of our extraordinary cast and crew to commence production on Elvis. I cannot emphasize enough how lucky we feel in the current climate that the state of Queensland, and Queenslanders in general, have been so supportive of this film. We thank our partners in the Queensland Government and Queensland Health for their extremely diligent process, so that we can be an example how creativity and productivity can proceed safely and responsibly in a way that protects our team and the community at large. The film, which is penned by Steven Knight (Taboo, See), is being described as a “heist movie/romantic comedy set in the backdrop of the pandemic lockdown” and the producers of the project are eying a modest $10 million or less budget.
P.J. Sandwyck, who is currently partnering with Liman on the forthcoming space-shot project led by the Mission: Impossible star, is set to produce the project alongside Alison Winter and sources report that several key roles are currently available to cast, with Cillian Murphy (A Quiet Place Part II) reportedly being eyed for one. Lockdown will also mark a reunion for Hathaway and Knight, who previously directed the Oscar-winning actress in the critically-abhorred and financially disappointing mystery thriller Serenity.
