Bram Stoker’s Dracula Starring Bela Lugosi

15 years after the novel’s publication, Dracula creator and author Bram Stoker passed away. He never got a chance to see how actor Bela Lugosi’s ground-breaking stage and screen portrayal of his character electrified and terrified audiences in the late 20s and early 30s. This performance became iconic and set the standard by which all actors taking on the caped mantle would be judged. With a story so rich in detail and atmosphere, the version of Dracula that Lugosi starred in departed significantly from Stoker’s original gothic tale. Now, for the first time, Bram Stoker’s classic tale of horror and Bela Lugosi are properly introduced in an all-new graphic novel. With the cooperation of Lugosi LLC, Artist El Garing, Art Director Kerry Gammill, and adaptor Robert Napton take us on a journey into the heart of Stoker’s masterpiece and reminds modern audiences why Bela Lugosi is Dracula

The Fighting Shirley Chisholm: Danai Gurira to Play First Black Congresswoman in New Film

Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead, Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther) is attached to star in The Fighting Shirley Chisholm, portraying the first Black congresswoman Shirley Chrisholm in the new film about Chisholm’s historic 1972 presidential run, according to Variety.

The Fighting Shirley Chisholm will be directed by Cherien Dabis (Ramy, Little Voice, Ozark) from a script by Emmy nominee Adam Countee (Silicon Valley, Run, The Mindy Project).

The movie is not being described as a biopic, instead focused more centrally on the campaign and how “the Chisholm Trail was populated by young people who sought social and political change during one of the most turbulent times in American history. At the time, Chisholm had already made history as the first Black congresswoman, and according to a description of the piece, recognized that she could make real change by challenging the status quo through her efforts to gain enough delegates to speak for the people at the Democratic Convention.”

Michael Bay in talks with Gyllenhaal, eyeing González & O’Brien for Ambulance

After teaming with two of Fox’s Marvel stars on his last action-packed project, Michael Bay is looking to the MCU as he has entered talks with Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s Jake Gyllenhaal to star in his upcoming thriller Ambulance, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, which is being penned by Chuck and Prodigal Son co-creator Chris Fedak, is being described as “a three-hander that tells of two brothers that steal an ambulance that is already in a heightened state with a female paramedic and a patient who is in critical condition,” with the story aiming for a tone akin to late ’90s and early ’00s action hits such as Speed and Training Day.

In addition to Gyllenhaal, who is in talks to portray the older brother of the story, the film has reportedly attracted the attention of Baby Driver and Bloodshot star Eiza González and Love and Monsters star Dylan O’Brien, who previously collaborated with Bay on the Transformers spin-off prequel Bumblebee, in which he voiced the titular Autobot.

Sources report that for his next directorial project, Bay was eyeing both Ambulance and a big-budget video game adaptation at Sony, which game it is is currently unknown, but thanks to the pandemic-friendly nature of the former’s production plan and his desire for a character-driven project in contrast to his standard explosion-happy fare, he landed on that. It will also mark the second project of Bay’s to shoot in Los Angeles during quarantine after the pandemic thriller Songbird, on which he was a producer.

The project is currently being packaged by Endeavor Content, with Universal Pictures getting an inside track on acquiring the rights to the film.

RELATED: The Croods: A New Age Trailer Introduces The Bettermans

The Croods have survived their fair share of dangers and disasters, from fanged prehistoric beasts to surviving the end of the world, but now they will face their biggest challenge of all: another family

The Croods need a new place to live. So, the first prehistoric family sets off into the world in search of a safer place to call home. When they discover an idyllic walled-in paradise that meets all their needs, they think their problems are solved … except for one thing. Another family already lives there: the Bettermans.

The Bettermans (emphasis on the “better”)—with their elaborate tree house, amazing inventions and irrigated acres of fresh produce—are a couple of steps above the Croods on the evolutionary ladder. When they take the Croods in as the world’s first houseguests, it isn’t long before tensions escalate between the cave family and the modern family.

Just when all seems lost, a new threat will propel both families on an epic adventure outside the safety of the wall, one that will force them to embrace their differences, draw strength from each other and forge a future together.

The Croods: A New Age features the voice talent of returning stars Nicolas Cage as Grug Crood, Catherine Keener as Ugga Crood, Emma Stone as their daughter, Eep; Ryan Reynolds as Eep’s boyfriend, Guy; Clark Duke (Hot Tub Time Machine) as Thunk and Cloris Leachman as Gran. They’re joined by new stars Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) as Phil Betterman, Leslie Mann (Blockers) as Hope Betterman, and Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: Episode VIII-The Last Jedi) as their daughter, Dawn.

The film is directed by Joel Crawford, who has worked on multiple DreamWorks Animation films, including Trolls and the Kung Fu Panda franchise, and is produced by Mark Swift (Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted).
