In a recent interview with The Playlist, Thor: Love and Thunder star Tessa Thompson opened up about Marvel Studios’ upcoming fourth installment to the Thor films, teasing the introduction of new characters as well as the inclusion of other characters within the MCU. This might mean that the highly-anticipated film could have more casting surprises in store for fans as Oscar winner Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher is the only confirmed new character right now.
“Yeah. I can tease that she’s definitely King of New Asgard when we find her,” Thompson teased. “And as was the case in the last four, I would say that she’s a part of an adventure that involved Thor, in the sense that it’s called Thor: Love and Thunder. And I’d say there’s some cool stuff going on. We have some new characters; we have some folks potentially from other pockets of the MCU. And then we have some folks, maybe, that we’ve seen before.”

It was previously reported that Chris Pratt has signed on to join Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Love and Thunder, with Vin Diesel also confirmed to appear in Taika Waititi’s upcoming MCU film. Their official casting shouldn’t actually come as a shock with Diesel previously teasing earlier this year that “Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Thor: Love and Thunder will be directed by Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) on a script co-written by him and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great), which will be the follow-up to Waititi’s wildly successful 2017 sequel Thor: Ragnarok. Oscar-winner Natalie Portman is set to return as Jane and will now be wielding the mighty Mjolnir. Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will also return as Thor and Valkyrie, respectively. Academy Award winner Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy) will portray Gorr the God Butcher, the main antagonist in the film. The female Thor storyline is based on Jason Aaron’s run on “The Mighty Thor” in which a cancer-stricken Jane Foster takes up the mantle and powers of Thor.
Thor and Valkyrie were last seen in this year’s highest-grossing film of all time Avengers: Endgame, with the god of thunder entrusting his responsibilities as the King of Asgard to Valkyrie as he joins the Guardians of the Galaxy on their next mission.

A24 has finally set the new release date for David Lowery’s upcoming medieval fantasy film The Green Knight after it was pulled from the studio’s theatrical release schedule earlier this year. Originally scheduled for a May 2020 release and SXSW debut, the Dev Patel-led film has now been pushed back to hit the theaters on Friday, July 30, 2021.

An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger. From visionary filmmaker David Lowery comes a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table.
The film stars Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, Lion), Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl), Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby, The King), Sarita Choudhury (Lady in the Water), Sean Harris (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones), Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk, The Eternals) and Ralph Ineson (Game of Thrones).

The film is directed and written by David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, The Old Man & the Gun) from a story based on the poem of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. The story was already adapted into film twice before by Stephen Weeks, the first of which starred Nigel Green (Jason and the Argonauts) as the Green Knight and the second of which starred Sean Connery (From Russia With Love) as the titular knight.
Lowery will be producing the project alongside Toby Halbrooks (Pete’s Dragon) and James M. Johnston (A Ghost Story) through their Sailor Bear banner. Tim Headington and Theresa Steele Page are also producing on behalf of Ley Line Entertainment. Bron’s Aaron L. Gilbert and Creative Wealth Media’s Jason Cloth are executive producing.

The Star Wars has lost another legend (via SuperHeroHype). Just a few weeks after the passing of Dave Prowse, the original Darth Vader, word has emerged that Jeremy Bulloch has passed away as well. Bulloch portrayed the popular bounty hunter, Boba Fett, in both The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. He was 75 years old, and also had an acting career that spanned decades.
Bulloch’s successor as Boba Fett, Daniel Logan, shared the news on his Instagram account. Logan played young Boba Fett in Attack of the Clones, and grew close to Bulloch on the convention circuit.

Bulloch’s first acting roles came in the late ’50s and early ’60s. He also appeared in several British TV series, including Doctor Who, The Professionals, and Robin of Sherwood. However, his credits were not limited to television. Bulloch also appeared in three James Bond movies: The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, and Octopussy. His other cinematic credits include The Idol, Mary, Queen of Scots, and Comic Book: The Movie.
Regardless, Bulloch was best known for his iconic role in the original Star Wars trilogy. He also returned for a small cameo in Revenge of the Sith. During his later years, Bulloch was a frequent guest at Comic Cons around the world. He also wrote a memoir, which was called Flying Solo: Tales of a Bounty Hunter.

Ahead of the film’s debut on the streaming platform, ComingSoon.net got the opportunity to chat with Oscar and Emmy-nominated star Angela Bassett to discuss her role in the latest Pixar adventure, Soul, which is set to hit Disney+ on Christmas Day! Our interview can be viewed in the player below!

In Soul, Joe Gardner (voice of Jamie Foxx) is a middle-school band teacher who dreams of playing in the best jazz club in town, with the fantasy adventure drama’s filmmakers finding they could relate to the character’s passion for music.
Director Pete Docter grew up in a musical family and plays the double bass. “My folks are both teachers and both musicians,” Docter previously said in a statement. “There are three kids and we all became musicians. I think my mom enjoyed having the Von Trapp family; when people would come over, we’d have to perform. My two sisters stuck with it—one is a cellist with the Metropolitan Opera, and the other one is a violist and a teacher.”
Co-director Kemp Powers, who used to be a music writer, played the alto saxophone in a jazz band during high school. His affinity for jazz plays a big role in his personal life. “My son’s name is Mingus,” Powers previously said in a statement. “He’s named after Charles Mingus. A lot of us Gen Xers, particularly Black Gen Xers, fell in love with the bebop-era jazz artists—John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, of course Herbie Hancock. These guys were musical icons that—specifically in New York City—inform so much of the other big musical genre in the city, which is hip hop. The background tunes of my life are jazz and hip hop.”
Disney and Pixar’s Soul also features the voices of Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, Donnell Rawlings, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, Angela Bassett, and Daveed Diggs.

The film is directed by Docter, co-directed by Powers, and produced by Dana Murray. Jazz compositions & arrangements are by globally renowned musician and Grammy nominee Jon Batiste, while Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network) composed an original score.

Guys, Zack Snyder’s Justice League might be coming to HBO Max in March! The director revealed as much during an exchange with a fan on his Vero account, which you can read below!
When a fan named Thiago Kesseli, speaking about the theatrical cut of Justice League, told Snyder he should “destroy every copy, please,” Snyder responded by saying: “I understand and of course respect your feelings and I just hope I can wipe that Version out of existence with what you see in March.”

So, there you have it. In point of fact, the date makes sense as March 25, 2021, marks the five-year anniversary of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A lot of Snyder’s films were released in March as well, including Dawn of the Dead (March 10, 2004), 300 (March 9, 2007), Watchmen (March 6, 2009), and Sucker Punch (March 25, 2011).
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will reportedly cost around $70 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director’s original vision, as well as the additional photography. The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut.
It was revealed at DC FanDome that the movie will release on HBO Max in 2021 by being broken up into four one-hour parts that will also be released as one four-hour film.
Fueled by the hero’s restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League, which features a screenplay from Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio, stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.

Released in November 2017, the film earned mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, praising the action and performances from Gadot and Miller while criticizing every other aspect of the film, namely the inconsistent tone that many fault Joss Whedon (The Avengers) for after taking over directorial duties from Snyder. With a large budget of $300 million and a break-even point of $750 million, the film is considered a box office bomb having grossed only $658 million.

During an interview with Variety, Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk) revealed why he decided to helm Disney’s upcoming The Lion King prequel feature that was announced in September, saying that the script, as well as Eternals director Chloé Zhao, helped convince him to take on the project.
RELATED: FandangoNow’s TRON: Legacy of the Grid Celebrates Film’s 10 Year Anniversary
“I read the script and about 40 pages in, I turned to Lulu [Wang] and I said, ‘Holy shit, this is good.’ And as I kept reading, I got further away from the side of my brain that said, ‘Oh, a filmmaker like you doesn’t make a film like this,’ and allowed myself to get to the place where these characters, this story, is amazing. What really pushed me across the line was James [Laxton], my DP, said, ‘You know what? There’s something really interesting in this mode of filmmaking that we haven’t done and that not many people have done.’ That was when I went back to the powers that be and said, ‘I would love to do this, but I’ve got to be able to do what I do.’ And they said yes!…And knowing that Chloé Zhao had gone from one of the most beautiful films of the century with The Rider to making a Marvel movie, I was like, ‘Oh, shit. If she can do it, I can do it,’” said Jenkins.
Jeff Nathanson, the writer of the 2019 Oscar-nominated The Lion King, is returning to pen the prequel. A release date or production start for the prequel has not yet been announced.
The 2019 movie was directed by Emmy nominee Jon Favreau (The Mandalorian) and earned over $1.5 billion at the global box office.
Lions rule the African savanna in 2019’s The Lion King, which welcomes Donald Glover (Atlanta, Solo: A Star Wars Story) as future-king Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (Dreamgirls, “Lemonade” visual album) as Simba’s friend-turned-love interest Nala, and James Earl Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Field of Dreams) as Simba’s wise and loving father, Mufasa, reprising his iconic performance from Disney’s 1994 animated classic.
You can pick up a copy of the 1994 version here!
Chiwetel Ejiofor (Twelve Years a Slave, Doctor Strange) was called on to portray Simba’s villainous uncle Scar, and Alfre Woodard (Juanita, Marvel’s Luke Cage) portrays Simba’s no-nonsense mother, Sarabi. JD McCrary (Tyler Perry’s The Paynes, Vital Signs) fills the shoes of Young Simba, a confident cub who can’t wait to be king, and Shahadi Wright Joseph (Hairspray Live, Broadway’s “The Lion King”) brings tough cub Young Nala to life.
Every kingdom comes with a trustworthy advisor or two. John Kani (Coriolanus, Captain America: Civil War) was cast as the wise baboon Rafiki, and John Oliver (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) was tapped as hornbill Zazu, Mufasa’s loyal confidant. When Simba goes into exile, he relies on two newfound friends — Seth Rogen (Sausage Party, Neighbors) lends his comedic chops to naïve warthog Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street, American Horror Story) joins the cast as know-it-all meerkat, Timon.

While most of the animals in the kingdom respect the king, the hyenas have other plans. Florence Kasumba (Emerald City, Black Panther) portrays Shenzi, Eric André (The Eric André Show, Man Seeking Woman) is Azizi, and Keegan-Michael Key (Predator, Friends from College) plays Kamari.
