In a recent interview with Collider, actor Joe Manganiello talked briefly about his role as Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, in the original Justice League film — a part that was altered after Zack Snyder left the project and Joss Whedon stepped in to finish the film. While Manganiello refused to offer any new details, he did confirm the original scene will be restored in the cut.
“If I was a part of it, it wouldn’t be my place to announce that. That would be Zack [Snyder]’s place,” Manganiello said when asked if he was taking part in the Snyder Cut. “Whether or not that’s happening. That is an answer that’s below my NDA level.”
He then went on to discuss the original post credit scene.
“On my social media, I talked about [how] there was an original end credits sequence that was altered for the release of Justice League,” Manganiello noted. “Once Batman was cancelled, they altered that scene. So, here you go, but I wrote about that on my social media. There’s an original scene that will be restored to what it was originally.”
Yeah, that’s not a lot to go on, but, hey, it’s something. And he didn’t outright say he wasn’t involved … so, there’s still hope that we’ll get to see more of this particular iteration of Deathstroke. Also, why restore that scene if we don’t get to see the payoff?
RELATED: DC FanDome: Watch the New Trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League!
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will reportedly cost around $70 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director’s original vision, as well as the additional photography. The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut. It is expected to debut sometime in 2021.
Fueled by the hero’s restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League, which features a screenplay from Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio, stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
Released in November 2017, the film earned mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, praising the action and performances from Gadot and Miller while criticizing every other aspect of the film, namely the inconsistent tone that many fault Joss Whedon (The Avengers) for after taking over directorial duties from Snyder. With a large budget of $300 million and a break-even point of $750 million, the film is considered a box office bomb having grossed only $658 million.

According to Deadline, Wonder Woman duo Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins are re-teaming for a big screen re-telling of Cleopatra. Paramount Pictures won an auction for the epic, which is set to be scripted by Laeta Kalogridis (Alita: Battle Angel, Shutter Island).
Gal Gadot came up with the idea and will star in the film and produce via her Pilot Wave Motion Pictures alongside Jaron Varsano, Jenkins and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven. Kalogridis will serve as executive producer. Per the report, the actress took part in a number of Zoom pitch meetings. Paramount won the rights to the film “created an urgency to mount a big budget theatrical release film as quickly as possible,” and set Kalogridis to begin writing immediately.

Cleopatra has enjoyed many film adaptations, the most noteworthy being the 1963 film starring Elizabeth Taylor and directed by Joseph Mankiewicz. At the time, that film was considered the most expensive film ever produced, but went on to win four Oscars and a hefty (for its time) $57.7 million in the United States. Though, it very nearly bankrupted 20th Century Fox.
Also of note (and featured in the Deadline article), is Sony Pictures’ own long delayed Cleopatra project from producers Amy Pascal and Scott Rudin, which has seen a number of high profile stars, including Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga, and directors, notably James Cameron and David Fincher, come and go over the years. Deadline reports that Eric Roth is currently working on it and speculates that Galdot’s project could result in something of a “footrace” to the big screen.

Cleopatra was the renowned Queen of Egypt who ascended to the throne via her personal relationship with Caesar. She later became intwined with Marc Antony — a relationship that ultimately led to her undoing. It is said she died via suicide by asp, though the records are all over the map in this regard.
Gadot and Jenkins are currently sitting on Wonder Woman 1984, a film that has endured a number of release date shifts due to the coronavirus, but is currently slated to hit theaters December 25.

When Sony recently dropped a brief teaser for the movie adaptation of Monster Hunter, it’s safe to say some gamers were perplexed. What were tanks and guns doing in an adaptation of a fantasy game? Would he take the same kind of liberties he did with Resident Evil? Evidently, Anderson wants to reassure fans that the core elements of monsters and hunting them won’t get messed with. So in this new video with the game’s producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kaname Fujioka, he demonstrates how the film’s creature designs draw direct inspiration from the game models. Most notably, we get a good look at Diablos and Rathalos.
RELATED: Monster Hunter Teaser Gives First Look at Black Diablos Plus New Release Date
The creators appear to approve, and thank Anderson for incorporating changes they suggested. And the new footage suggests that Milla Jovovich won’t be stuck in military gear the whole movie. Indeed, from what’s shown here, she will adapt to more fantasy-based attire and weaponry once the monsters start showing up in earnest.
Anderson, of course, has done faithful video game adaptations before. The original Mortal Kombat movie, while somewhat dated now, stuck to the game’s storyline and characters, to most fans’ delight. Throwing modern characters into Monster Hunter‘s world may be a curveball, but considering how much the game creators like what they see, it might be the only one.
