Robert Forster Reflects on the Job in Wolf of Snow Hollow Clip

As the film gears up for its Beyond Fest premiere, Orion Pictures has unveiled a new clip from The Wolf of Snow Hollow that sees Robert Forster’s Sheriff Hadley reflecting on the job and expressing his fears over the central case, as it’s nothing he’s seen before. The clip can be viewed in the player below!

Written and directed by Jim Cummings, the film follows a small-town sheriff struggling with a failed marriage, a rebellious daughter, and a lackluster department, as he is tasked with solving a series of brutal murders that are occurring on the full moon. As he’s consumed by the hunt for the killer, he struggles to remind himself that there’s no such thing as werewolves.

Alongside Forster, the cast for the film includes Riki Lindhome (Knives Out, Under the Silver Lake), Jimmy Tatro (American Vandal, The King of Staten Island) and Chloe East (Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, Next Level).

The trailer for the film includes a new song called “Little Red Riding Hood” from the soundtrack for the film, arranged by Ben Lovett with vocals from Valen. The film is scored by Ben Lovett (composer for The Ritual, The Night House and The Wind). The soundtrack is set to be released by Lakeshore Records.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow is set to hit select theaters, digital platforms and video on demand on October 9, just in time for the Halloween season!

Sylvie’s Love: First Look at Amazon’s Romance Drama Starring Tessa Thompson & Nnamdi Asomugha

Along with the new still from the upcoming romance drama Sylvie’s Love starring Tessa Thompson (Creed, Thor: Ragnarok, Westworld) and Nnamdi Asomugha (When the Streetlights Go On, Crown Heights), Amazon Prime Video has announced the movie will be launching worldwide on Prime Video on December 25.

In Sylvie’s Love, the jazz is smooth and the air sultry in the hot New York summer of 1957. Robert (Nnamdi Asomugha), a saxophonist, spends late nights playing behind a less-talented but well-known bandleader, as a member of a jazz quartet. Sylvie (Tessa Thompson), who dreams of a career in television, spends her summer days helping around her father’s record store, as she waits for her fiancé to return from war. When Robert takes a part-time job at the record store, the two begin a friendship that sparks a deep passion in each of them unlike anything they have felt before.

As the summer winds down, life takes them in different directions, bringing their relationship to an end. Years pass, Sylvie’s career as a TV producer blossoms, while Robert has to come to terms with what the age of Motown is doing to the popularity of Jazz. In a chance meeting, Sylvie and Robert cross paths again, only to find that while their lives have changed, their feelings for each other remain the same. Writer/director Eugene Ashe combines romance and music into a sweeping story that brings together changing times, a changing culture, and the true price of love.

The movie also stars Eva Longoria, Aja Naomi King, Wendi Mclendon-Covey, and Jemima Kirke and is written and directed by Eugene Ashe.

Sylvie’s Love is produced by Asomugha, Gabrielle Glore, Jonathan T. Baker, Ashe, and Matthew Thurm.

Kevin Steverson’s Salvage Title Acquired by Hideout Pictures

Just two years after hitting shelves, Kevin Steverson’s sci-fi epic novel Salvage Title has been acquired by Average Joes Entertainment’s Hideout Pictures to be developed into a feature film, according to Deadline.

Published in 2018 and the first in the novel trilogy of the same name, the story follows Harmon Tomeral, an orphan-turned-space academy pilot who faces an uphill battle as he desires to head to space. He and his friend enter in a Top Fleet Marine competition to compete for the grand prize of 100,000 credits, which would just be enough to start their own salvage company, but they two must build a mech worth of competition. With the fleet showing disinterest in Harmon, he must team up with his friends to go against regulations to salvage parts and try to become the best.

The film adaptation is set to be penned by graphic novelist Doug Wagner, well-known for creating the Image Comics’ limited series Plastic, with Hideout Pictures CEO Shannon Houchins attached to produce alongside Trevor O’Neil and Potsy Ponciroli.

“Kevin is a tremendous storyteller and we had been tracking Salvage Title knowing that Doug is the perfect person to adapt the property for the television/film,” Houchins said in a statement.

Steverson’s work becomes the second novel Hideout has acquired for a feature film adaptation after the production banner landed the rights to the graphic novel series Kill Whitey Donovan last year. Hideout has recently become known for providing financing on a number of projects with big names attached including Jay & Silent Bob Reboot and the Omar Epps and Kate Walsh-starring 3022.

Steven Soderbergh assembles ensemble cast for HBO Max thriller

As production gets underway on the crime thriller, Steven Soderbergh’s No Sudden Move, formerly titled Kill Switch, has assembled an ensemble cast including Don Cheadle (Ocean’s Trilogy), Benicio del Toro (Sicario), David Harbour (Black Widow), Jon Hamm (Tag), Ray Liotta (Marriage Story) and many more!

Alongside the five, the star-studded roster will also include Amy Seimetz (The Secrets We Keep), Kieran Culkin (Succession), Brendan Fraser (Doom Patrol), Noah Jupe (Honey Boy), Bill Duke (High Flying Bird), Frankie Shaw (SMILF) and Julia Fox (Uncut Gems). Production on the film, which is following strict pandemic safety protocols, is currently underway in Detroit, Michigan.

“The last time I shot a movie in Detroit with a great script and a great cast things worked out really well, so I’m very excited behind my mask right now,” Soderbergh said in a statement.

Casey Silver (Mosaic, Godless) is attached to produce the project, which was penned by Bill & Ted Face the Music co-scribe Ed Solomon, and is one of two projects Soderbergh has set at the WarnerMedia streaming platform alongside the Meryl Streep-starring Let Them All Talk, which is expected to debut later this year.

“It’s a pleasure to begin production on another project with Steven Soderbergh, Casey Silver and Ed Solomon,” Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer for HBO and HBO Max, said in a statement. “We have an incredible partner in Warner Bros. Pictures and an extraordinarily talented cast – we couldn’t be happier to bring No Sudden Move to HBO Max.”

“Steven is a prolific, forward-thinking director who has a two-decade history of making movies at Warner Bros,” Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group, said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing his legacy at WarnerMedia with his intense crime thriller.”

Set in the 1950s Detroit, No Sudden Move will follow a trio of criminals who carry out a home invasion, only to wonder if they’ve been double-crossed when the job goes sideways.

Soderbergh’s recent projects also include the Netflix movies High Flying Bird and The Laundromat, and recently wrapped his latest directing gig Let Them All Talk, starring Meryl Streep, Gemma Chan, Lucas Hedges, Candice Bergen, and Dianne Wiest. He also recently produced Scott Z. Burns’ The Report and served as executive producer on Bill & Ted Face the Music.

Spiderhead: Chris Hemsworth, Jurnee Smollett & Miles Teller Join Netflix Drama

According to Entertainment Weekly, Netflix’s drama feature Spiderhead has added MCU alum Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Ragnarok, Extraction, Bad Times at the El Royale), Jurnee Smollett (Lovecraft Country, Birds of Prey, The Great Debaters), and Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick, Whiplash, Only the Brave) to its cast. The story is based on the short story Escape from Spiderhead by George Saunders that first ran in The New Yorker and was later added to his bestselling anthology collection Tenth of December.

The drama is set in the near future and follows two convicts who accept an offer to become medical subjects in exchange for reduced sentences. But are they prepared for what this experiment will bring to the surface? Each will be faced with dealing with their past as they become test patients for emotion-altering drugs while under the supervision of a brilliant visionary.

Spiderhead will be directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and will be written by Deadpool and Deadpool 2 screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

James Cameron Says Filming on Avatar 2 is 100% Complete

In a recent chat with Arnold Schwarzenegger ahead of the 2020 Austrian World Summit (via EW.com), director James Cameron revealed the state of his long awaited Avatar sequels. Good news is, the first sequel is already done shooting. Bad news is, we have to wait until December of 2022 to see it. You can check out the full discussion below!

“COVID hit us like it hit everybody… We lost about four and a half months of production,” Cameron said. “As a result of that, we’ve rolled around one more full year for a release in December of 2022. That’s been announced already.

The cast of the Avatar franchise includes Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Vin Diesel, Jemaine Clement, and Oona Chaplin alongside a slate of young actors. Returning cast members include Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, Matt Gerald, and Sigourney Weaver.

Cameron recently explained that Stephen Lang’s Colonel Miles Quaritch is coming back for all four sequels and will be the main villain throughout the story. Filming officially started on Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 on September 25, 2017.

After some shuffling of the schedule, Avatar 2 has been pushed back a full year from December 17, 2021 to December 22, 2022. While Avatar 3 has been pushed back from December 22, 2023 to December 2024 with Avatar 4 to open two years after that on December 18, 2026 (originally December 2025) and Avatar 5 will drop on December 22, 2028 (originally December 17, 2027). Although Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 will only be released with director James Cameron’s caveat that Avatar 2 and 3 are successful at the box office.

Tenet Remains Atop Quiet Box Office

The domestic box office continued its sluggish march through the month of September with another mediocre showing. Per Deadline, Tenet remained atop the charts with $3.4M, down some 26% from last week, which brings its total to $41.2M at 2,850 locations in the U.S. Globally, Christopher Nolan’s epic has risen to $283.2M thanks to strong showings in China ($64.3M), UK ($19.6M), France ($18M), Germany ($14.6M) and Korea ($13.1M). Pic also collected $355K from Imax venues.

Meanwhile, coming in at No. 5 on the box office chart was the re-release of Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back, which grossed $908,000 on 2,097 theaters. Otherwise, The New Mutants held onto the No. 2 spot with $1,147,000, and Unhinged remained at No. 3 with $1,000,000. At No. 4 was Jun-Soo Park’s Break the Silence, which earned $980K in its first week of release from 515 theaters.

Meanwhile, Infidel pulled in $745,000 in the No. 6 spot and The Broken Hearts Gallery managed $470,000 at No. 7 and new releases Shortcut, Akira, The Last Shift, and Kajillionaire occupied the final four spots with $305K, $270K, $235K, and $215K, respectively.
