During the Shazam! DC FanDome panel, Zachary Levi and the cast joked about how they were unable to share anything about the upcoming sequel before director David F. Sandberg confirmed the Shazam! 2 title as Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

It was previously reported that screenwriter Henry Gayden had signed on to return to craft a sequel for the comedic superhero effort with director David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) returning alongside producer Peter Safran and cast members Zachary Levi, Jack Dylan Grazer, Marta Milans, Asher Angel, Meagan Good, Faithe Herman, and Adam Brody.
In the first film, we all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

The Shazam! cast includes Asher Angel (Andi Mack) as Billy Batson, Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy) as The Wizard, and Mark Strong (Kingsman) in the role of Super-Villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. The film also stars Jack Dylan Grazer (IT) as Billy’s best friend and ultimate superhero enthusiast, Freddy, part of the foster family that includes Mary, played by Grace Fulton (Annabelle: Creation); Darla, played by Faithe Herman (This is Us); Eugene, played by Ian Chen (Fresh Off the Boat); and Pedro, played by Jovan Armand (Hawaii Five-0). Cooper Andrews (The Walking Dead) and Marta Milans (Killer Women) play foster parents Victor and Rosa Vasquez.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently slated for a November 4, 2022 release!

During DC FanDome’s Aquaman panel, James Wan and Patrick Wilson reflected on the first movie but still managed to slip in a few details about the anticipated sequel. The most important thing Wan revealed was that the sequel would be more serious and grounded in our world.
“I would say the sequel will be a little more serious and a little more relevant to the world we’re living in today,” Wan said.
When he asked Wilson what he was looking forward to, the actor replied he wanted to see more worlds. Naturally, Wan assured him there will be plenty of new unique places to explore once the sequel finally rolls around.

Aquaman became the biggest success for the DC films, which have a history of faltering at the box office, with the exception of Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. It grossed over $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office earning its spot as the highest-grossing DC film of all-time for Warner Bros, and revealed the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry (Momoa) and took him on the journey of his lifetime — one that forced him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.
Aquaman also starred Amber Heard (Justice League, Magic Mike XXL) as Mera, a fierce warrior and Aquaman’s ally throughout his journey; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Platoon, Spider-Man 2) as Vulko, counsel to the Atlantean throne; Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring films, Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master, the present King of Atlantis; Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables films) as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Baywatch, The Get Down) as the vengeful Black Manta; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Lion) as Arthur’s mom, Atlanna. Also starring is Ludi Lin (Power Rangers) as Captain Murk, Atlantean Commando, and Temeura Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Green Lantern) as Arthur’s dad, Tom Curry.

Dwayne Johnson has been working on Black Adam for 10 years. The character was originally supposed to appear in this year’s Shazam! but decided to save his highly-anticipated debut for a later film in order to let each character get some breathing room. However, despite not appearing in Shazam!, his character was teased with the wizard Shazam, played by Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), telling his origin story to Billy Batson.
Based on the DC Comics character created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck, Black Adam will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows) with Johnson starring as the titular anti-hero and Adam Sztykiel having written the current script. Noah Centino will play Atom Smasher in the movie. The film will be the second collaboration between Collet-Serra and Johnson, who have also been working together on Disney’s forthcoming adventure film Jungle Cruise.

Zack Snyder stopped by DC FanDome to share a trailer to his cut of Justice League, but also revealed that his version will be broken up into four 1-hour parts that will also be released as one four-hour film.
“Maybe I should talk about how you guys are going to see the movie and in what format,” Snyder began, “it’s gonna be in four parts — one hour each. Four hours of Justice League is coming your way! We’re gonna work on a way to bundle it together at the end so you can watch it as a single film if that’s the way you want to experience it.”

He also told people who cannot get HBO Max not to worry because they are working on a digital distribution plan.
“I promise you, you’re gonna get a chance to see it,” Snyder said.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will reportedly cost around $20-30 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director’s original vision. The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut.
Fueled by the hero’s restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League, which features a screenplay from Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio, stars Affleck as Batman, Cavill as Superman, Gadot as Wonder Woman, Momoa as Aquaman, Miller as The Flash, Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.

Released in November 2017, the film earned mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, praising the action and performances from Gadot and Miller while criticizing every other aspect of the film, namely the inconsistent tone that many fault Joss Whedon (The Avengers) for after taking over directorial duties from Snyder. With a large budget of $300 million and a break-even point of $750 million, the film is considered a box office bomb having grossed only $658 million.

During the surprise DC Comics panels during DC FanDome, during which Mark Bernardin discussed a revival of Milestone Comics with Denys Cowan, Jim Lee, Phil LaMarr, and Reginald Hudlin, it was revealed that not only are there new Static Shock comics coming in February 2021, but there have also been discussions revolving around a potential Static Shock live-action film.
The news was quite, er, shocking to fans and certainly a surprise even with LaMarr (the iconic voice of the Static Shock animated series) in the room.
“One of the things we’re really excited about is,” Reggie Hudland explained, “we really want to live up to the name of the company — Milestone Media — so when we spoke with Jim about reviving the Milestone line we said, ‘We all know this has been hit comic books and hit animated series, it’s time to expand into all of those areas and then some.’ And so, we are in serious conversations, as we’re launching a new comic book series, in developing a Static Shock movie. That’ll be a theatrical feature film. What we’re talking about is unbelievable!”

Lee then announced plans to digitize the Milestone library and make the classic stories available via Comixology, Amazon Kindle, and Apple, among others.
It was quite the announcement, and while nothing is as of yet set in stone, fans can rest assured they’ll be seeing Static Shock and his Milestone compatriots in a variety of forms in the near future.

Johnson’s not exaggerating. Black Adam’s strength and powers are on par with Superman and Shazam, but without their morality to hold them back.

Black Adam was the wizard Shazam’s champion thousands of years before Billy Batson. However, he fell from the wizard’s favor and was banished for thousands of years. In the comics, Black Adam debuted as a villain. But over time, he became more of a sympathetic antihero. He may eventually face Billy Batson’s Shazam on the big screen. But for now, Black Adam is taking the spotlight.

Today’s Legacy of the Bat panel in DC FanDome’s Hall of Heroes contained great topics and panelists in a celebration of the Dark Knight’s heritage and the impact he’s had on his allies as they continue to do their part to protect Gotham City. In addition to lively discussions spotlighting Talent and creators from popular DC shows such as Batwoman and Titans, as well as from Warner Bros. Games Montréal, DC also ended months of speculation regarding Batman’s upcoming comic book adventures, confirming that award-winning screenwriter John Ridley (12 Years a Slave, Guerrilla, American Crime) and artist Nick Derington (Doom Patrol, Batman Universe, Mister Miracle) will team up for a four-issue miniseries scheduled for January 2021, featuring a version of the Caped Crusader different from what many fans know and existing alongside the current Batman run by James Tynion IV and Jorge Jimenez.

During his conversation with DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee, Ridley revealed a breathtaking piece of key art for his version of Batman by artist LADRÖNN. The writer also provided further credence to fan speculation that this Batman definitely will not be Bruce Wayne:
“I think it’s a pretty safe bet that if I’m writing Batman, it’s probably a little better than a 47% chance he’s going to be a person of color,” said Ridley.
In addition, Ridley raised additional curiosity when he revealed his series will focus on the family of Lucius Fox, head of Wayne Enterprises. “But he [Fox] has a family and this is a family that has secrets, has kept secrets from one another,” said Ridley. “It’s a little bit different dynamic than the Batman that we’ve always seen.”

While this will be the first time Ridley has written a series featuring Batman, he’s no stranger to comic book writing, nor to DC. In 2004, he wrote The Authority: Human on the Inside (with artist Ben Oliver) and contributed an arc to the 2005 series, The Razor’s Edge: Warblade (with legendary artist Simon Bisley). Most recently, Ridley also collaborated with artist Georges Jeanty on the groundbreaking limited series The American Way (2006) and its sequel, The American Way: Those Above and Those Below (2017).
