J.K. Simmons says his next J. Jonah Jameson cameo has already been filmed

Earlier this month, Oscar winner J.K. Simmons revealed that fans should expect more of his return as J. Jonah Jameson in future MCU/SUMC films following his surprise appearance in the post-credits scene of last year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. In a recent interview on SiriusXM‘s The Jess Cagle Show which you can listen to below, the Marvel alum continues to tease fans about his future appearances in upcoming Marvel movies, confirming that he has already finished filming his next cameo. However, it remains unclear if his new cameo would be featured in a new MCU movie or perhaps another SPUMC movie.

“Well yeah, [I’ll be back as Jameson] that’s the short answer,” Simmons said. “There is a future for J. Jonah Jameson after a several-year hiatus. He showed up very briefly for those who were wise enough to stay through the credits of Far from Home… There is one more JJJ appearance in the can, and from what I’m hearing there’s a plan for yet another. So hopefully JJJ will continue now and forever.”

Tom Holland will return for the film as the titular wall-crawler, and it remains to be seen what villains he’ll go up against in the trilogy caper. Given the ending of Far From Home, however, any number of his rogues gallery are likely eager for a fight. The third installment to the MCU’s Spider-Man films will also feature the return of Zendaya (Euphoria, Dune) as MJ. Holland’s Spider-Man is also set to appear in another Marvel Studios film per the new agreement.

The third Spider-Man film from Marvel Studios is set for a November 5, 2021 release, officially adding another addition to the already crowded Phase 4 release slate. Sony’s upcoming Spidey slate includes Venom: Let There Be Carnage, starring Tom Hardy and directed by Andy Serkis, as well as Jared Leto’s in-the-can Morbius, a Kraven the Hunter film, and a spinoff featuring Silver Sable and Black Cat. Should these films interact with the MCU and Tom Holland, it remains to be seen, but the door seems open.

Michael Keaton in Talks for The Flash Movie as Batman!

Michael Keaton in Talks for The Flash Movie as Batman

Michael Keaton in talks for The Flash movie as Batman!

The DC Extended Universe solo Flash film has been in the works for nearly five years now and has seen a number of writers and directors come and go and with the film on track with Andy Muschietti behind the camera, The Wrap has brought word that the film will feature a major component in the form of Michael Keaton returning as Batman!

RELATED: Andy Muschietti Confirms The Flash Movie is Still Based On Flashpoint

Sources report that the 68-year-old performer is currently in talks with Warner Bros. to reprise his star-making role for the long-awaited project focused on the red speedster in an effort to introduce audiences to the concept of the multiverse, while noting that negotiations are in “the very early stages.” The multiverse is a concept that has underlined most of the DC Comics, with The CW’s Arrowverse using the idea for connecting Supergirl to its other series and helping with the annual crossover events, most notably last year’s Crisis on Infinite Earths. The network also utilized this event to connect the small screen world with the big screen as Ezra Miller’s Flash met up with Grant Gustin’s and confirmed the existence of Justice League and Wonder Woman.

It’s currently unknown how the script is looking to toy with the idea of the multiverse, especially in future DCEU films, but sources are confirming that should Keaton return to the role 30 years after we last saw him in it, it will not affect Matt Reeves’ highly-anticipated The Batman and that the studio is still considering Robert Pattinson as the future of the Dark Knight franchise. Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter adds that if talks go through, Keaton could end up playing Batman in multiple movies “in a mentor capacity” similar to Nick Fury in the MCU, with Batgirl being one of the possible projects.

Keaton first took on the cowl in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman, which proved a critical and commercial hit and helped pave the way for the comic book genre’s future box office domination. and his performance has largely been considered one of the best iterations of the character, despite initial hesitation from fans. He would return to the role in 1992’s Batman Returns with Burton directing, and after the financial success and continued positive reviews, the studio began development on a third installment, though quit after Burton was pushed out and replaced with Joel Schumacher, who would go on to direct Val Kilmer in Batman Forever and George Clooney in Batman & Robin.

Should Keaton’s deal be finalized and the filmmakers go through with the multiverse concept, the plan is to have The Flash act as a direct sequel to Batman Returns and borrow from the acclaimed 2011 crossover storyline “Flashpoint,” exploring what his version of Batman has been up to in the years since.

Warner Bros. first revealed that their Flash film would be inspired by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert’s Flashpoint comic as early as 2017. The studio even went so far as to change the movie’s title to Flashpoint. But following last month’s announcement of the film’s 2022 release date, it doesn’t sound like this is still the case.

It’s probably for the best that the filmmakers are going to make changes to Johns and Kubert’s original Flashpoint arc. After all, the story has already been brought to life in animated form and in the Arrowverse. In 2013, Warner Home Video released Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. A few years later, The CW’s The Flash aired its own version of the story during the show’s third season. With this, it makes sense that Warner Bros.’ film division would want to make something that stands out from prior adaptations. Plus, the timeline tampering could also be used a means of fixing continuity issues within the DCEU.

The Flash is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 1, 2022.

What are you hoping to see from the movie’s interpretation of the Flashpoint story? Let us know in the comment section below!

Horror anthology franchise V/H/S getting reboot!

It’s been six years since the Bloody Disgusting-produced horror anthology franchise V/H/S came to a close with the poorly-received trilogy closer, Viral, but now it’s set to make a comeback as The Hollywood Reporter has brought word a reboot entitled V/H/S 94 is currently in the works.

The film is being written, developed and produced by David Bruckner (The Night House), who previously worked on the first film in the series on the highly-acclaimed segment “Amateur Night,” which was spun off into the well-received horror-thriller Siren in 2016. The reboot will also feature the return of filmmaking collective Radio Silence, who directed the “10/31/98” segment of the first film and also worked alongside Bruckner on the well-received horror anthology Southbound. The Ready or Not filmmakers, who were recently confirmed to be helming the next film in the Scream franchise, will produce the film alongside Bruckner.

The roster of directors set to helm segments of the reboot include Simon Barrett (You’re Next, The Guest), who helmed segments in the first and second films as well as starring in the first, Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes For Us) and newcomer Chloe Okuno, with the producers currently in talks for other filmmakers to join.

Though plot details are unknown at this time, sources report V/H/S 94 will be the first film to feature a “single, fluid narrative” that connects all of the segments together compared to its predecessors’ being composed of a wrap-around frame narrative with the shorts being separate from the main story.

Michael Mann and Hugh Jackman Teaming Up for Ferrari Pic

Michael Mann and Hugh Jackman Teaming Up for Ferrari Pic

According to Deadline, Hugh Jackman and acclaimed director Michael Mann are joining forces to tell the story of Ferrari, based on Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari.

The film will, per the report, “chart the summer of 1957 when all the forces in Ferrari’s life – which were often as combustible and volatile as the iconic race cars he built – collided. The now legendary car company he and his wife Laura built was at the time going broke. Their tempestuous marriage had already suffered the death of their son, Dino, and Ferrari’s other son, 12-year old Piero, the product of a wartime romance, was struggling to find his place in the world.” In a last gasp for glory, Ferrari took a chance on the 1957 Mille Miglia race, which spanned 1,000 miles across Italy. The film will allegedly build a storyline around the race, during which Laura learns important secrets, “and drivers, who are like surrogate sons, are pushed beyond the edge.”

Mann, who executive produced Ford vs Ferrari, which featured Enzo (played by Remo Girone), has long yearned to make the film, and has recently reworked the script originally penned by the late Troy Kennedy Martin.

“The real power of this piece is in the emotionally charged lives of these people in complex, extreme circumstances. In addition, there is the explosive power and lethal beauty of racing. It has a great drama at its core and that’s why Ferrari stayed with me,” Mann told Deadline.

Mann will provide a virtual presentation of the project to potential buyers during Tuesday’s Cannes virtual market.

Also noteworthy, Mann, who is a friend of the Ferrari family, plans to build a fleet of replica race cars for the flick. He and Jackman have apparently began reading through some of the film’s most potent scenes.

Mann’s last big screen directorial feature arrived way back in 2015 with the Chris Hemsworth vehicle Blackhat. His more notable credits include the classic films Heat, The Last of the Mohicans, The Insider, Ali, Collateral and Manhunter.

Hugh Jackman was last seen in Bad Education and is busy filming The Good Spy for director Baltasar Kormákur and Reminsicence with Lisa Joy.
