Just a day after the announcement that Lucasfilm Games would begin to solely handle all video game adaptations of the Lucasfilm properties, Bethesda took to Twitter to announce that they are developing a new Indiana Jones title with their in-house developer MachineGames!

— Bethesda (@bethesda) January 12, 2021
While further details may currently be under wraps for the project, the game publisher revealed that the title will feature an entirely original story for the iconic archaeologist and history professor and will be executive produced by Bethesda’s Todd Howard in collaboration with Lucasfilm. Howard is best known for his work as project lead and director on much of Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls series and a few of the most recent installments in the Fallout franchise.
It’s been over a decade since gamers last got a proper console title centered on the fedora-wearing, whip-cracking hero with 2009 bringing players two different games in the form of Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, Traveller’s Tales follow-up to their 2008 Lego adaptation of the film franchise that added in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Artificial Mind and Movement’s Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.
The latter title was originally designed and developed for seventh-gen consoles PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Portable, but the development team shifted their plans early into development to cancelling the former two and instead developing the game for the PlayStation 2 and scrapping an Xbox release altogether. Upon its release, the game received very mixed reviews.

While not giving too many details away today, Bethesda promised to share more reveals for the title when they’re ready.

Morbius is Sony’s adaptation of the Marvel anti-hero Morbius the Living Vampire. The film is directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life, Safe House) from a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Netflix’s Lost in Space), based on the Marvel Comics character created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane who first appeared in 1971’s “Amazing Spider-Man” #101.
Originally Dr. Michael Morbius, the scientist character tried to cure his rare blood disease only to become afflicted with a form of vampirism that gave him superior strength, fangs and a taste for the red stuff. The character fought Spider-Man several times, though eventually earned several of his own books where he had a more heroic arc. He has an ongoing feud with the character Blade the Vampire Hunter in the comics. The character previously appeared on TV in Spider-Man: The Animated Series and Ultimate Spider-Man Vs The Sinister Six, and was originally earmarked to make his film debut in Blade until his cameo was deleted and plans to make him the villain in Blade II scrapped.

While currently waiting for the slew of awards nominations to roll in for his last directorial project, Aaron Sorkin is already gearing up to return to the director’s chair with Being the Ricardos at Amazon, which has entered talks with Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem to star, according to Deadline.
Penned by Sorkin, the film is set during a week of production on the iconic 1950s sitcom I Love Lucy, which began with table reads on Mondays and ended with audience filming on Fridays, and will focus on the real relationship between stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, namely as they face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage. Sources report that Sorkin originally did not intend to direct the project, only write, but after enjoying the directing experience on the Netflix-acquired historical drama elected to take the director’s chair this past summer.
Sources also report that though their deals have yet to be closed, Kidman and Bardem became interested in the project following the release of The Trial of the Chicago 7 and that a production start date has yet to be set as the pandemic continues to prove to be a problem to productions across the country. The project was previously in development with Cate Blanchett set to star, though it’s unclear why the two-time Oscar winner dropped out.

It’s been three years since audiences last saw Darren Aronofsky in the director’s chair and now he’s found his next feature project in the form of an adaptation of The Whale, which has set Brendan Fraser (The Mummy) to star in the lead role, according to Deadline.

Based on Samuel D. Hunter’s acclaimed 2012 play, the story is set on the outskirts of Mormon Country, Idaho, and centers on a six-hundred-pound recluse as he hides away in his apartment eating himself to death. Desperate to reconnect with his long-estranged daughter, he reaches out to her, only to find a viciously sharp-tongued and wildly unhappy teen.
“Adapting my play into a screenplay has been a real labor of love for me,” Hunter said in a statement. “This story is deeply personal and I’m very thankful it will have the chance to reach a wider audience. I’ve been a fan of Darren’s ever since I saw Requiem for a Dream when I was a college freshman writing my first plays, and I’m so grateful that he’s bringing his singular talent and vision to this film.”
Hunter will adapt the play, which won the Drama Desk Award, Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play and a GLAAD Media Award, for the screen while Aronofsky is set to direct and co-produce via his Protozoa Pictures alongside A24.
The Oscar-nominated writer/director last sat in the director’s chair for the 2017 psychological horror pic mother! starring Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, which received largely polarized reviews from critics but was generally scorned by audiences, earning a notorious “F” rating on CinemaScore, one of only 22 films to receive such a score.

Hulu has acquired the U.S. rights to Lee Daniels’ The United States vs. Billie Holiday, which will debut as a Hulu Original film on Hulu on February 26, 2021. Additionally, the first trailer was released showcasing the first footage of Andra Day as Billie Holiday. You can check out the trailer now in the player below along with the new key art!

The legendary Billie Holiday, one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time, spent much of her career being adored by fans across the globe. Beginning in the 1940s in New York City, the federal government targeted Holiday in a growing effort to escalate and racialize the war on drugs, ultimately aiming to stop her from singing her controversial and heart-wrenching ballad, “Strange Fruit.”
Led by Oscar-nominated director Lee Daniels and introducing Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Andra Day, The United States vs. Billie Holiday unapologetically presents the icon’s complicated, irrepressible life. Screenplay Writer Suzan-Lori Parks, the first African American woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, pens this intimate tale of a fierce trailblazer whose defiance through music helped usher in the civil rights movement. NAACP Image Award Nominee Trevante Rhodes and Emmy Nominee Natasha Lyonne co-star along with Garrett Hedlund, Miss Lawrence, Rob Morgan, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Evan Ross, Tyler James Williams, Tone Bell, and Erik LaRay Harvey.
“Whether you are new to the story and legacy of Billie Holiday or know every note she ever sang, I do hope our celebration of this complex woman does justice to a great musical legend and civil rights activist whose artistry resonates as well today, as it did 80 years ago. Hulu releasing this film and giving it a platform to be seen nationwide is a blessing, because as recent events reveal, our country has much work to do in fulfilling its promise of a more perfect union,” said Lee Daniels.

Tom Holland, the Russo Brothers, and Robert Downey, Jr. were reunited on Friday night when Downey moderated a live virtual Q&A for the Russos’ new Apple Original Film Cherry, which stars Holland. They were also joined by Holland’s costar Ciara Bravo and screenwriters Angela Russo-Otstot and Jessica Goldberg for the conversation, where Downey praised Cherry as a film that, “when it comes on in five years, wherever it is in the movie, you’re going to want to watch it. The highest compliment I can pay to a piece of cinema is it bears rewatching. It’s one of those things that really is a meditation, and the fact that all of you infused it with something that has such meaning in this crisis within the crisis within the crisis.” You can check out a clip from the Q&A below!

Cherry follows the wild journey of a disenfranchised young man from Ohio who meets the love of his life, only to risk losing her through a series of bad decisions and challenging life circumstances. Inspired by the best-selling novel of the same name by Nico Walker, Cherry features Tom Holland in the title role as an unhinged character who drifts from dropping out of college to serving in Iraq as an Army medic and is only anchored by his one true love, Emily (Ciara Bravo). When Cherry returns home a war hero, he battles the demons of undiagnosed PTSD and spirals into drug addiction, surrounding himself with a menagerie of depraved misfits. Draining his finances, Cherry turns to bank robbing to fund his addiction, shattering his relationship with Emily along the way. Brought to the screen in bold, gritty fashion by visionary directors Anthony and Joe Russo, Cherry is a darkly humorous, unflinching coming-of-age story of a man on a universal quest for purpose and human connection.
