In a recent League of Mayhem livestream appearance with The Nerd Queens, Zack Snyder has opened up about the future of Justice League beyond the HBO Max miniseries, confirming that he already has ideas for a potential sequel involving a story about Ray Porter’s Darkseid.
“If you said to any of the actors in the movie ‘well what happens in the movie’ or ‘what happens later’ or whatever for any movie. And they go ‘well I got the script and it’s cool and I kind of know this and-‘ so [Ray Porter] and I were talking about this and what’s cool or what’s the right response to some questions,” Snyder said. “It’s a fair question to ask me, you know, like what do I say to the world about, you know, what happens when Darkseid comes to Earth? Then what? You know, Is that a thing? And I think, listen, the truth is that, did I write and did I have and conceive a complete- do I know what happens when Darkseid… yes. I do know what happens. To say and to speculate about what that is and that that would be exciting, I think that’s a fine thing.”
During the same livestream, when a fan suggested that frequent collaborator Carla Gugino (Sucker Punch, Watchmen) would have been a great Catwoman for Ben Affleck’s version of Batman, Snyder immediately agreed by providing the backstory of how Gugino’s Selina Kyle would have fit into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
“Probably I would say Carla’s Catwoman [is perfect],” Snyder said. “You would have to say, there’s a flashback to ten years ago, where [Batman and Catwoman] were a thing. And then he had to arrest her, I don’t know what happened, or he had to let her go, and it tweaked him. And now, who knows what she’s doing now, she’s running some sort of international antiquities or something, and he needs to retire, and they find each other. Yeah, I do think Carla is — yeah, she is good.”

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will reportedly cost around $70 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director’s original vision, as well as the additional photography. The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut.
It was revealed at DC FanDome that the movie will release on HBO Max in 2021 by being broken up into four one-hour parts that will also be released as one four-hour film.
Fueled by the hero’s restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League, which features a screenplay from Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio, stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.

Released in November 2017, the film earned mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, praising the action and performances from Gadot and Miller while criticizing every other aspect of the film, namely the inconsistent tone that many fault Joss Whedon (The Avengers) for after taking over directorial duties from Snyder. With a large budget of $300 million and a break-even point of $750 million, the film is considered a box office bomb having grossed only $658 million.

The Fighting Shirley Chisholm will be directed by Cherien Dabis (Ramy, Little Voice, Ozark) from a script by Emmy nominee Adam Countee (Silicon Valley, Run, The Mindy Project).
The movie is not being described as a biopic, instead focused more centrally on the campaign and how “the Chisholm Trail was populated by young people who sought social and political change during one of the most turbulent times in American history. At the time, Chisholm had already made history as the first Black congresswoman, and according to a description of the piece, recognized that she could make real change by challenging the status quo through her efforts to gain enough delegates to speak for the people at the Democratic Convention.”

After teaming with two of Fox’s Marvel stars on his last action-packed project, Michael Bay is looking to the MCU as he has entered talks with Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s Jake Gyllenhaal to star in his upcoming thriller Ambulance, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
RELATED: Michael Bay in Talks to Direct Remake of Danish Thriller Ambulance
The film, which is being penned by Chuck and Prodigal Son co-creator Chris Fedak, is being described as “a three-hander that tells of two brothers that steal an ambulance that is already in a heightened state with a female paramedic and a patient who is in critical condition,” with the story aiming for a tone akin to late ’90s and early ’00s action hits such as Speed and Training Day.
In addition to Gyllenhaal, who is in talks to portray the older brother of the story, the film has reportedly attracted the attention of Baby Driver and Bloodshot star Eiza González and Love and Monsters star Dylan O’Brien, who previously collaborated with Bay on the Transformers spin-off prequel Bumblebee, in which he voiced the titular Autobot.
Sources report that for his next directorial project, Bay was eyeing both Ambulance and a big-budget video game adaptation at Sony, which game it is is currently unknown, but thanks to the pandemic-friendly nature of the former’s production plan and his desire for a character-driven project in contrast to his standard explosion-happy fare, he landed on that. It will also mark the second project of Bay’s to shoot in Los Angeles during quarantine after the pandemic thriller Songbird, on which he was a producer.
The project is currently being packaged by Endeavor Content, with Universal Pictures getting an inside track on acquiring the rights to the film.
