David Leitch’s ensemble action thriller Bullet Train, led by Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), has expanded its roster with the addition of Emmy nominee Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), according to Deadline.

Bullet Train will mark the eighth collaboration between David Leitch (Hobbs & Shaw) and Pitt, who first worked together in 1999 on Fight Club on which Leitch worked as an uncredited stunt double for Pitt, followed by 2001’s The Mexican, Ocean’s Eleven and Spy Game, the latter two in which he doubled again for Pitt and helped coordinate the martial arts stunts on the Tony Scott-helmed film. Leitch would once again double for Pitt in 2004’s Troy and 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith and would later reunite with the star in 2018’s Deadpool 2, in which Pitt cameoed as Vanisher and Leitch directed.
On top of directing, Leitch will supervise the script written by Zak Olkewicz (Fear Street). Plot details for the film are currently being kept under wraps, but it is based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by Isaka Kotaro. The cast for the film, led by Pitt, already includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass), Andrew Koji (Warrior) and Joey King (The Lie).
Leitch and Kelly McCormick will produce the project via their company 87North along with Antoine Fuqua (The Magnificent Seven, Training Day, The Equalizer) and Kat Samick (The Equalizer, Southpaw, Infinite). Brittany Morrissey is the executive overseeing the film for Sony Pictures.

Leitch and McCormick recently signed a first-look deal at Universal and produced the action film Nobody, starring Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk, which is expected to release in February 2021. The duo is also developing a biopic of Jutta Kleinschmidt, the first and only woman to win the brutal off-road endurance race known as The Dakar Rally, as well as the rights to her book My Victory at Dakar.

Just a month after acquiring the rights to the Kristen Bell (The Good Place)-starring comedy, STXfilms is expanding the cast of Queenpins with the addition of Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Bebe Rexha in her live-action feature film acting debut.
RELATED: Queenpins: STXfilms Acquires Worldwide Rights to Kristen Bell Comedy
Queenpins will center on the story of a suburban housewife, fed up with being dismissed and overlooked by her husband and society, who decides to take back control of her life by starting an illegal coupon club. Her creation ends up scamming millions of dollars from big food companies while delivering deals to millions of fellow coupon clippers.
Bell will re-team with her The Good Place and Veronica Mars co-star Kirby Howell-Baptiste, as well as Vince Vaughn (Freaky, Fighting With My Family) and Paul Walter Hauser (Da 5 Bloods, Richard Jewell).
The film is written and will be directed by Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly and produced by AGC Studios, Marquee Entertainment, and Red Hour Films. AGC’s Linda McDonough will produce alongside Red Hour’s Nicky Weinstock. AGC Studios Chairman Stuart Ford and Miguel A. Palos, Jr. will executive produce alongside Ben Stiller and Breean Solberg of Red Hour. The project was developed by McDonough under her Marquee Entertainment banner prior to joining AGC earlier this year.

In a small café in Nouvion, the harassed proprietor is having a trying war. With the German army in residence in the bar, René is risking his neck to aid the Resistance by hiding two British airmen and a radio transmitter upstairs in his mother-in-law’s bedroom. He is also involved in hiding the priceless painting of the Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies in a large sausage which even now is being sniffed out by the Gestapo. But Rene’s real problem is his wife, Edith, and what she will do to him when she finds out about the affairs he is having with his two sexy waitresses. From outright farce to unsubtle double entendres and mother-in-law jokes, this British sitcom is humor which easily travels. It has crazy characters and even crazier plots, a wealth of catchphrases and, of course, René – the most improbable French hero since Inspector Clouseau.

Magnolia Pictures has unveiled the first trailer, poster and November release date for the upcoming documentary Zappa centered on the eponymous singer-songwriter helmed by Alex Winter (Bill & Ted Face the Music), which was originally set to make its world premiere at this year’s South by Southwest. The trailer can be viewed in the player below!
RELATED: IFC Films’ Stardust Trailer Starring Johnny Flynn as Icon David Bowie
With unfettered access to the Zappa family trust and all archival footage, Zappa explores the private life behind the mammoth musical career that never shied away from the political turbulence of its time. Alex Winter’s assembly features appearances by Frank’s widow Gail Zappa and several of Frank’s musical collaborators including Mike Keneally, Ian Underwood, Steve Vai, Pamela Des Barres, Bunk Gardner, David Harrington, Scott Thunes, Ruth Underwood, Ray White and others.
“It seemed striking to me and producer Glen Zipper that there had yet to be a definitive, all-access documentary on the life and times of Frank Zappa,” Winter said in a statement. “We set out to make that film, to tell a story that is not a music doc, or a conventional biopic, but the dramatic saga of a great American artist and thinker; a film that would set out to convey the scope of Zappa’s prodigious and varied creative output, and the breadth of his extraordinary personal and political life. First and foremost, I wanted to make a very human, universal cinematic experience about an extraordinary individual.
“What helped make this vision possible was Gail Zappa granting us exclusive access to Zappa’s vault; a vast collection of his unreleased music, movies, incomplete projects, unseen interviews and unheard concert recordings,” Winter continued. “With this wealth of material, and the minimal addition of present-day interviews with Frank’s closest friends and musical collaborators, we built a narrative that is both intimate and epic in scope.”

Zappa is set to hit select theaters for a one-night-only special event on November 23 followed by a digital and VOD release on November 27.

There’s only a few days left until the spookiest holiday of the year and to celebrate in anticipation, ComingSoon.net is asking our readers to dive deep into the horror genre for our poll asking just who is the greatest director in the horror genre, exploring everyone from the iconic Alfred Hitchcock (Psycho) to cult hit deliverers such as Rob Zombie (House of 1000 Corpses). RELATED: POLL RESULTS: What is the Best Director’s Cut?
The horror movie genre is one frequently remembered for both its menacing antagonists and the storytellers who bring them to life, but choosing which is the better is one of the toughest decisions to make of all genres. There’s no denying the charm and technical innovations made by early filmmakers such as Hitchcock, Roger Corman (The Raven), Mario Bava (Black Sunday), Dario Argento (Suspiria), Lucio Fulci (The House by the Cemetery), Antonio Margheriti (Cannibal Apocalypse), James Whale (Frankenstein), William Castle (House on Haunted Hill), Tod Browning (Dracula), Bert I. Gordon (The Amazing Colossal Man), Freddie Francis (The Evil of Frankenstein), Terence Fisher (The Mummy) and Roy Ward Baker (Quartermass and the Pit).
That being said, there’s a lot of fun and chills to be had from those with access to bigger budgets and special effects of the later 1900s and took it in more surreal or comedic directions including John Carpenter (The Thing), George A. Romero (Dawn of the Dead), Steven Spielberg (Jaws), Guillermo del Toro (Cronos), Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead), Peter Jackson (The Frighteners), David Cronenberg (The Brood), Joe Dante (Gremlins), Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator), John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), David Lynch (Eraserhead), Brian De Palma (Carrie), Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist), Don Coscarelli (Phantasm) and Clive Barker (Hellraiser).

In addition to the awards-worthy duo, the cast for the film includes Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread) and Boyd Holbrook (The Predator, The Fugitive). The project was directed by Ferdinando Cito Filomarino, the second-unit director of Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name, in his English-language directorial debut on a script penned by Kevin Rice. The film centers on a couple vacationing in Athens who fall upon a violent conspiracy with tragic consequences.
Much of the crew who worked with Guadagnino on his Academy-Award winning coming-of-age romantic drama joined him once more, including cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom and Walter Fasano. Oscar-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant) scored the film. Luca Guadagnino and Marco Morabito produced via their Frenesy Films, along with longtime co-producer Francesco Melzi and Gabriele Moratti with their MeMo outfit which is also the lead financier.
Though having suffered a bit at the box office due to its release in the midst of the pandemic, Washington recently saw his star power catapulted higher with the lead role in Christopher Nolan’s mysterious sci-fi blockbuster Tenet, which received generally positive reviews from critics, namely for the performances from its ensemble cast. Born to Be Murdered is also set to be the second collaboration between the streaming platform and Golden Globe nominee after the upcoming black-and-white romantic drama Malcolm & Marie, in which he stars alongside Zendaya (Spider-Man: Far From Home).
