Tom Holland, the Russo Brothers, and Robert Downey, Jr. were reunited on Friday night when Downey moderated a live virtual Q&A for the Russos’ new Apple Original Film Cherry, which stars Holland. They were also joined by Holland’s costar Ciara Bravo and screenwriters Angela Russo-Otstot and Jessica Goldberg for the conversation, where Downey praised Cherry as a film that, “when it comes on in five years, wherever it is in the movie, you’re going to want to watch it. The highest compliment I can pay to a piece of cinema is it bears rewatching. It’s one of those things that really is a meditation, and the fact that all of you infused it with something that has such meaning in this crisis within the crisis within the crisis.” You can check out a clip from the Q&A below!

Cherry follows the wild journey of a disenfranchised young man from Ohio who meets the love of his life, only to risk losing her through a series of bad decisions and challenging life circumstances. Inspired by the best-selling novel of the same name by Nico Walker, Cherry features Tom Holland in the title role as an unhinged character who drifts from dropping out of college to serving in Iraq as an Army medic and is only anchored by his one true love, Emily (Ciara Bravo). When Cherry returns home a war hero, he battles the demons of undiagnosed PTSD and spirals into drug addiction, surrounding himself with a menagerie of depraved misfits. Draining his finances, Cherry turns to bank robbing to fund his addiction, shattering his relationship with Emily along the way. Brought to the screen in bold, gritty fashion by visionary directors Anthony and Joe Russo, Cherry is a darkly humorous, unflinching coming-of-age story of a man on a universal quest for purpose and human connection.

Due to the challenges brought upon by the ongoing pandemic, Marvel Studios wasn’t able to deliver brand new MCU content for a full year. That’s why many Marvel fans are wondering about what these major delays might mean for the studio’s original master plan for the overall narrative of Phase 4.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that previous production setbacks and release date changes haven’t greatly affected the studio’s major plans for Phase 4 as projects were only delayed for a short time.
“If the run we had in 2018 and 2019 had gotten disrupted this way, in the buildup to ‘Endgame,’ it would have been a bigger headache,” Feige said. “With these projects, it worked well. [TV shows shifted only] by a matter of weeks.”
The Marvel Cinematic Universe will be kicking off its long-awaited phase four with the upcoming premiere of WandaVision this Friday, which is the first ever MCU series from Marvel Studios. 5 More MCU series are set to debut this year including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Ms. Marvel, and Hawkeye as well as four MCU films including the long-delayed Black Widow and Eternals.

WandaVision will follow the story of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany’s superhero characters Scarlet Witch and Vision. The series blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.
The series is directed by Matt Shakman with Jac Schaeffer as head writer. The composer is Christophe Beck, and the theme (for certain episodes) is by Frozen’s Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

Well, wonders never cease. After dropping from the top spot during the holiday movie rush, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet (as predicted) leapt back to No. 1 on DEG’s Watched at Home Top 20. It makes sense. Tenet is definitely a film you have to watch numerous times in order to never understand, which means it’ll probably stay atop the chart for a couple more weeks — especially considering the lack of competition.

Speaking of which, the Robert DeNiro comedy The War with Grandpa made its debut at No. 2 while the Liam Neeson action thriller Honest Thief spent its first week in the third spot. Other new entrants on the list include The Craft: Legacy (No. 12), The Informer (No. 13), 2017’s Wonder Woman (No. 18) and Hunter Hunter (No. 20).
Otherwise, the usual suspects took up the remaining spots, namely Harry Potter, Unhinged, The New Mutants and Yellowstone, among others. The Office: S1-9 jumped to No. 4, which is cool — the first 3 or 4 seasons rank among the best in television — while Mel Gibson’s Fatman reappeared at No. 15 after dropping off over the last few weeks.
Happy viewing!

The exact cause of death and timing are currently unknown, but Roy Ashton from the Gersh Agency confirmed to THR that the director, who served three terms as the Directors’ Guild of America President from 2003-09, had died.
“His legacy will be forever woven into the fabric of cinema and our guild,” DGA president Thomas Schlamme said in a statement. “A fearless visionary as a director and unparalleled guild leader, Michael saw the trajectory of things when others didn’t, and we were all the beneficiaries of his wisdom and lifelong dedication.”
Apted made his career debut in television with the monumental Up series, starting with Seven Up! in 1964 wherein he followed a group of 14 children and continued to catch up with them for a new documentary every 7 years, right up to his last one 63 Up in 2019. After following this with episodes of various series including Coronation Street and Haunted, Apted made his way to the big screen with the Oliver Reed and Glenda Jackson-starring war drama The Triple Echo in 1972. He would go on to helm the musical drama Stardust, gangster thriller The Squeeze and drama thriller Agatha before breaking out with the Loretta Lynn biopic Coal Miner’s Daughter, which earned seven nominations at the Academy Awards, including Best Picture and winning for Best Actress for Sissy Spacek, and four Golden Globe nods, winning Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy and Best Actress for Spacek.
His career would continue both on the big and small screens in a variety of genres, including the romantic comedy Continental Divide, crime drama Class Action, Oscar-nominated Dian Fossey biopic Gorillas in the Mist, polarizing drama Nell, thrillers Gorky Park, Thunderheart and Enough, third Pierce Brosnan-led James Bond outing The World is Not Enough, third and final installment in the original Chronicles of Narnia film series, HBO historical drama Rome, Showtime period drama Masters of Sex and CBS legal drama Reckless.
